Why is it that whenever a post goes around where people who don’t get drunk and/or high on a regular basis are like “woohoo, I love not getting drunk and/or high and still being able to have shitloads of crazy fun,” someone ALWAYS has to reblog it and bitch about it?

I get enough eye-rolling and side-eyeing and patronizing from my college peers who can’t/won’t party without getting drunk in real life, so FUCK YOU.

Yeah, the graphic I reblogged earlier did say people who can’t have fun without getting drunk and/or high should “grow the fuck up” and yeah, I reblogged it with a Tennant clapping gif but JFC HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF HUMOR? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF HYPERBOLE?

FOR THE RECORD:

I think doing drugs is a stupid thing to do, because (a) it is usually anywhere from mildly to really bad for you in some way health- and/or safety-wise and (b) it’s illegal, and doing illegal things is generally ill-advised because, you know, ILLEGAL, and breaking laws has life-long consequences if you get caught.
I think the drinking age is a little on the high side, and I think that there are plenty of situations in which reasonable/not approaching alcohol-poisoning levels of drinking by people under 21 is perfectly acceptable.
I think drinking (or doing drugs - any drugs) and then driving is a DESPICABLE thing to do and I WILL judge the fuck out of you if you do that and I will not apologize for it. I lost a cousin to a drunk driver who was driving without a license because he’d had it taken away because of multiple DWIs so FUCK YOU if you want to defend that kind of behavior.
Other than that, if you choose to get dangerously drunk or use basically any illegal substances, whilst I will think you are not necessarily making the best decisions, I’m not going think I’m a ~better person because I don’t do those things.
I probably won’t want to go to parties with you, though.
And when I find other people who like to party the way that I like to party, which is to say without drugs and with small to moderate amounts of alcohol, I’m going to be happy about it, because sometimes it feels like there aren’t very many of us out there.
Which, by the way, we’re totally aware that there are drunk and/or high nerds out there. Just another reason why we get so excited to find others like us.
And seriously, it is kind of fucked up that people judge the hell out of nerds who cosplay but think that people who choose to drink so much alcohol that they are literally risking death are just being normal young adults.
So if I see a funny graphic about that I will reblog it with a supportive gif.
And if that causes you butthurt then feel free to unfollow.
